Apple Inc Drops iPhone 14 Series Production Over Demand Lull: Report

Apple Inc is planning to drop iPhone 14 production after an anticipated rise in demand of its flagship smartphone failed to manifest, Bloomberg News reported. As per the media report, the tech giant told suppliers to curb efforts to increase the assembly of the iPhone 14 range of smartphones by up to 6 million units in the second half of 2022.

American tech giant, Apple is abandoning plans to increase iPhone 14 series' production in 2022 due to a demand lull. The company recently launched its brand new series, the iPhone 14 range in September and opened up presales for its models, i.e., iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Instead, the California-based company will shoot for 90 million handsets for the period, approximately the same as 2021, the Bloomberg report added.

Demand for the premium iPhone 14 Pro models is stronger than for the entry-level models, i.e., iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. As per the Bloomberg report, at least one Apple supplier is shifting production capacity from entry-level iPhones to top-shelf models, i.e., iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Apple also stated that it would start making the iPhone 14 series, which was launched earlier in September, in India, moving some of its production away from its long-time assembling hotspot, China.
