Ananya, Aryaman Birla Appointed Directors in Aditya Birla Fashion And Retail

After Reliance Industries, one of India’s biggest business conglomerates is all set to see next generation leaders. The chairman of Aditya Birla Group Kumar Mangalam Birla’s children Ananya and Aryaman have been appointed as the directors on the board of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail. 

According to information, the Board of Directors, in its meeting held on the basis of the recommendation of the Nomination Committee, has approved the appointment of Ananya and Aryaman as Directors on the Board of the company. 

This is said to be an important step towards handing over the leadership of the company to the next generation. Earlier, the siblings Ananya and Aryaman have been appointed as directors in Aditya Birla Management Corporation.

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABRFL) has informed in a regulatory filing that Ananya Birla and Aryaman Vikram Birla will be liable to retire by rotation as per the Companies Act, 2013 and their appointment will be subject to the approval of the shareholders. 

A Businesswoman Since Her Teens, A Singer Too

Kumar Mangalam Birla’s daughter Ananya Birla already is a businesswoman. She has been running a micro finance company since the age of 17. Her company Svatantra Microfin Pvt Ltd is one of the fastest growing micro finance companies in India.

With over 7,000 employees, Svatantra Microfin has crossed $1 billion AMU and is growing at a CAGR of 120% (2015-2022). Svatantra had successfully acquired Micro Housing Finance Corporation Limited in 2018. Ananya Birla is also the founder of design-based home decor brand Ikai Asai. Apart from this, she is also the founder of Ananya Birla Foundation and co-founder of Mpower.

Ananya Birla is also an accomplished singer and her last song Teri Meri Kahani did good on charts. 

First Class Cricketer

At the same time, Aryaman also has a lot of experience. He is associated with several businesses of the Aditya Birla Group. According to the company, under the guidance of group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, he is actively focusing on the group's entry into new businesses. He also helped incubate the group's D2C platform TMRW and is a director on its board. He is also leading the group's venture capital fund Aditya Birla Ventures. Before joining the group, he was a first class cricketer.
