Amplus Solar announced on Tuesday that it plans to spend Rs 1,500 crore to build 7.5 KPTA-distributed green hydrogen plants in Andhra Pradesh.

In order to make its plans a reality, Amplus Solar has also entered into an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to establish different distributed green hydrogen plants throughout the state, according to a statement.

With an investment of Rs 1,500 crore, the firm intends to establish 7.5 KPTA (kilo tonne per annum)-distributed green hydrogen plants for industrial consumption in Andhra Pradesh. It has also reached an agreement with the state government to establish numerous decentralized green hydrogen plants.

“We look to be a key contributor in achieving India's goal of being the global green hydrogen hub,” said Sharad Pungalia, MD and CEO of Amplus Solar. This MoU (memorandum of understanding) is our first step toward active participation in the growth of the industry.

Andhra Pradesh is an industrial hub, with sectors such as petrochemicals, glass manufacturing, cement, fertilizers, and so on. According to the business statement, it has a larger customer base to service and a high potential for renewable energy generation due to the state's favourable geography.

Amplus owns and administers more than 1.4 GW of distributed solar assets.
