Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan attacked Union Home Minister Amit Shah harshly on Sunday,  for his insult of the southern state and demanded an explanation from the BJP leader as to what risk he had perceived there.

Veteran CPI(M) leader Vijayan spoke at a party event close by and claimed that whereas minorities were often persecuted in BJP-ruled states, they were tolerated in Left-ruled Kerala.

"Everyone is aware of the Kerala scenario. Amit Shah needs to explain what's wrong. While religious minorities are safe in Kerala, minorities in Karnataka frequently face violence, according to the Chief Minister, who added that Kerala is the only state where the "communal propaganda of Sangh Parivar" is failing.

Amit Shah exhorted the public to support the BJP in the election-bound state by telling a crowd in the neighbouring Karnataka district of Dakshina Kannada that "there is Kerala in your neighbourhood" in an apparent allusion to the persecution of numerous leaders of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI).

CM Vijayan responded by pointing out that numerous metrics demonstrate that Kerala has the greatest law and order situation in the nation and upholds secularism.

However, communal violence and communalism are the lifeblood of the Sangh Parivar. They try to deflect attention away from the true problems and their poor governance, Vijayan alleged.

According to the senior Left leader, Shah should have stated that peaceful coexistence is the norm in Kerala and that similar conditions should be established in areas where the BJP is now in control.
