Amit Shah Assures Peace in Nagaland

Union Home Minister, Amit Shah notified undertaking Naga peace talks on Tuesday and pinned hope on, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative of bringing lasting peace in the north-eastern state, according to a media report on Tuesday.

Shah while addressing an election rally in Tuensang, highlighted some issues related to the development and rights of eastern Nagaland and assured considering the same after the assembly elections.

He urged the insurgency is almost decreased in the Northeast and underlined the 70 per cent dip in violent incidents in the region under central government rule.

The Union home minister also showcased a 60 per cent reduction in deaths of security forces and an 83 per cent dip in civilian deaths in the Northeast.

The minister further assured, the Armed Forces, Special Powers Act, 1958 has been lifted from large parts of Nagaland by the BJP government and assured that the Act will be removed from across the northeastern state in the next three to four years.

Meanwhile, all eyes are glued to the upcoming assembly election.
