Amid General Elections 2024, EC Checks On Stock, Functioning Of EVMs

As Election Commission has scheduled General Election and five Assembly polls in 2024, the commission has started looking for first-level checks of Electric Voting Machines (EVMs) and paper trail machines in a phase-wise manner, reported by a leading media company.
There are multiple constituencies in the country that got vacant due to some issues such as Wayanad, Ghazipur (UP), Pune, and Ambala. In the case of Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi got disqualified in a criminal defamation case by a sessions court in Surat.
As part of the first level of checking, the scrutiny was done by the engineers from ECIC and BHEL who also manufacture these voting machines.
According to the reports, An office holder with the ECI said that the checking of the polling machines is a pan-India exercise and will also be conducted in Wayanad, Kerala.
