Xiaomi has appointed Alvin Tse as the General Manager of Xiaomi’s India business. The leadership rejiig also sees Anuj Sharma return as Xiaomi India’s Chief Marketing Officer.

Ever since the Enforcement Directorate (ED) came knocking on the doors of Xiaomi offices for raids to check for financial irregularities last December, it hasn’t been smooth sailing for Xiaomi India.

While Manu Kumar Jain, who is largely credited for the growth of Xiaomi in India, quietly moved away from India to Dubai to take on the role of Global VP in the last few months, the company was working on a major leadership rejig in India.

Since Jain’s transition from Xiaomi India, Muralikrishnan B was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer; Raghu Reddy, Chief Business Officer, and Sameer BS Rao, Chief Financial Officer.

Alvin Tse’s appointment comes at the right time as the technology group looks to tackle growing competition from Samsung and Realme in the country.

“Post his transition, Alvin will join hands with the Xiaomi India leadership team and support the company’s next phase of growth. Being a British national and true global citizen, Alvin has helped Xiaomi expand successfully into many global markets,” Xiaomi said in a statement.

While Jain is considered as the poster child of Xiaomi’s story in India, Tse has also been important in the company’s strategy during the company’s initial days in the subcontinent.

British by nationality, Alvin Tse completed his education in Stanford and was one of the founding members of Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco. "He will play an instrumental role in bolstering Xiaomi's connect with consumers across the nation," Xiaomi stated.
