Adani Group-owned Ambuja Cements on Friday announced a clinker capacity expansion by eight million tonne (MT) at the company’s Bhatapara and Maratha units.

The company's exchange filing said the capacity expansion projects will enable the production of ‘Blended Green Cement’ of 14 million tonne, post all requisite approvals.

The cement producer stressed the projects are expected to be commissioned in nearly 24 months and underlined the capex to be funded from internal accruals. The brownfield expansion projects are part of the company's profit strategy, aimed at doubling the production capacity over the next five years from the current capacity of 67.5 MTPA, it added.

Ajay Kapur, CEO, Cement Business, Adani Group said that the ongoing investments in capacity expansion and sustainability will help us achieve our long-term set objectives, as we are committed to delivering sustainable growth and value to our stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Ambuja Cements on Tuesday reported a consolidated net profit decline of 10.87 per cent at Rs 763.30 crore for the quarter that ended on 31 March 2023.

So, the clinker capacity expansion is likely to hold a greater positive growth for the company.
