Active Cases Decline To 22,02,472, Cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage Exceeds 163.84 Cr

With the administration of more than 22,35,267 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 163.84 crore (1,63,84,39,207) through 1,78,47,482 sessions.

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and fear of the Omicron variant, India reported 2,86,384 new cases in the last 24 hours. The death toll has climbed to 4,91,700 with 573 fresh fatalities, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. 

The ministry said that India’s active caseload is presently at 22,02,472 which constitute 5.46 per cent of the country's total positive cases. However, active cases have decreased to 22,02,472. A decrease of 20,546 cases has been recorded in the active Coronavirus caseload in a span of 24 hours.

A total of 3,06,357 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients is now at 3,76,77,328. India’s recovery rate stands at 93.33 per cent, the ministry said.

"The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 14,62,261 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 72.21 crore (72,21,66,248) cumulative tests," it said. 

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate in the country currently stands at 17.75 per cent and the daily positivity rate is also at 19.59 per cent.
