About 62% Small Businesses Use Website, Online Store As Main Sales Channel: Survey

About 62 per cent of Indian small businesses use a website, online store or e-commerce platform as their main sales channel to grow, as per a survey by Godaddy India. 

Globally, 46 per cent of small businesses surveyed reported launching in the last 1-5 years, with India recording 55 per cent of small businesses in the same period, stated Godaddy 2023 data observatory survey. 

The survey indicated that 83 per cent of Indian small businesses started selling online in the past five years. 

It added that Indian small businesses are also most active in starting their business online with actions that include building social media profiles (35 per cent), online advertising (34 per cent) and personal contact with potential customers (33 per cent).

They survey found that  globally 64 per cent of small business owners surveyed said they make up to half of their annual revenue from online sales channels, and 37 per cent reported making 51 to 100 per cent of their revenue from online sales channels. 

About 61 per cent globally reported using a website or online store or a combination as their sales channel. 

In India, 65 per cent of respondents said they make up to half of their revenue from online sales, and the other 36 per cent of respondents make over 50 per cent
