AAP Edges Ahead Of BJP In MCD Polls, Counting In Final Stages

Elections have been held at the 250 wards and voting has been held on December 4

As per the official data shared by the election commission till 12 noon, the Arvind Kejriwal led-Aam Adami Party (AAP) is ahead of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while the grand old party Congress is seen at the distant third position. The counting of votes has been started at 8 AM on Wednesday. 

AAP is leading with 135 seats, while BJP has led at 101 seats, Congress with 10 seats, and others at 4 as of 12 PM. The counting of votes is underway for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi 2022.

Elections have been held at the 250 wards and voting has been held on December 4. 

Opinion polls by different channels have indicated the AAP's victory by a major margin as compared to BJP and Congress.

The counting of votes are done at 42 centres across the capital under tight security. 

Although, the BJP had won 181 of the 270 municipal wards while AAP could secure only 48 and Congress finished third with 30 in the 2017 civic elections.

The BJP ruled the MCD for the last 15 years.
