A Safe Space To ‘Create’

Building on changes in the content creation landscape, there is a need for a non-judgemental space for people to create content and hone their passions as authentically as possible

The future for us, and the media industry itself, lies in growing the communities through newer, technology led products that offer a deep and immersive experience for the user, bringing in new business models beyond advertising and subscription and moving into creator- and user-led monetisation tools.

And that is our blueprint for Arré — to straddle the spectrum of seasoned and professional content creators through our studio and media business and ‘citizen (and everyone) creators’ through our new mediatech venture.

Project ArréSay has been our stealth mode obsession for the last 18 months borne out of the lockdown ruminations. People’s need for conversations and communities will continue to throw up many innovative tech-based platforms addressing various facets of this core need. However, with Project Arrésay, we are driven passionately towards creating a safe, non-judgemental space for people, especially since the downsides of social media posturing have been well-documented.

Social Commerce
Social and community commerce is a huge and exponentially growing opportunity. The global social commerce market is expected to reach $2 trillion by 2026. Even India, which is at a nascent stage of social commerce acceptance currently, is likely to be a $16-20 billion market by 2025. NFTs, micro-transactions like tipping are only but a few innovations buoying the creator economy, and there is much more to come.

Out of this need to connect and the social commerce opportunity, we have built and are testing an audio-led platform with a mission to enable and build a creator ecosystem across the world, supported with tech-enabled tools that will make creating and monetising content easy for anyone with a basic smartphone.

We believe that every person across the world should be able to create and engage in any language without any barriers of gender, literacy, or accessibility. And our tech team is working on ensuring our product features enable a user experience isn’t hindered by any of these.

Team Building
With this as our goal, we started building our core team bringing in talent from global social media companies as well as leading consumer and ecommerce platforms. The product is being built by a young team of engineers, more than 50 per cent of whom are women, bringing in exactly the kind of gender sensitivity we wish that our app represents.

Award-winning audio experience specialists are working with us to create a unique user-experience on this platform, which will change the way people interact with social media.
Beyond engineering, we are also working with gender and community experts to ensure we create a safe and inclusive environment for people to express their truest emotions and thoughts using the most authentic expression, which is their voice.

We have opened the app up for testing with close to about 1000 users and are fine tuning the app basis their feedback. We are looking at a January 2022 launch with five languages, going India and Android first. This completely indigenous social platform is built to cater to creators and users not only for India, but also for the world. We will be looking at an international launch in our year one of operations itself.
