The representation with the association’s views and a request was formally made to the Secretary, MoH&FW, Preeti Sudan, with a copy to Dr. Harshvardhan
The advisory was subsequently challenged in Delhi High Court which ruled it to be non-binding on states and government bodies.
This comes amid repeated calls for a ban from the country's health ministry, which urged states and government agencies last year in an "advisory" to step up efforts to halt sales and imports, warning vaping devices pose a "great health risk"
