Top Indian Films Showcased at Cannes over the years

Neecha Nagar (1946)

Chetan Anand’s directional debut ‘Neecha Nagar’ was first Indian film to win a Grand Prix du Festival International du Film (Best Film), today known as Palme d’Or award in 1946. The film was slightly based on Maxim Gorky’s Lower Depths and a Hindi story written by Hayatullah Ansari.
