Zomato Adds In-App Chat Support For Ordering Food

According to the company this feature will enable real time and direct line of conversation for users and they will also be able to track their orders, get promotion information, cancel orders and even check the refund status for a canceled order

Online restaurant search and discovery service Zomato has updated its app. Earlier, it had introduced a new feature where users of the app could order food online apart from searching for restaurants. It was one of the biggest additions to the app and the company has added yet another feature to improve the recently added online ordering experience. The latest update to the app brings in new in-app chat feature, which will let user chat with Zomato’s customer support centre for any order-related queries. Available for users in India and UAE, the new chat feature has been integrated through a partnership with Konotor, a mobile-first user engagement platform. Users will be able to ask questions or share their feedback centre anytime between 9am and 11pm across all cities where the online ordering feature works.

“Over the past 6 months, we have built a solid online ordering product and are constantly working on improving user experience. With this update, we've focused on improving and simplifying the communication flow between users and Zomato during the order process. We aim to simplify the online ordering process and give users the option of a faster, more efficient, and reliable way of getting food delivered, with the introduction of this feature,” said Tanmay Saksena, Global Business Head - Online Ordering, Zomato.

A feature like this should have been implemented back when the company had introduced the online ordering feature back in the month of March. It not only helps a user keep a track of his/her food order, the direct mode of communication helps in solving any other queries. According to Zomato some new features like Custom Collections, Refreshed Dineline, and the Leaderboard 2.0 feature have also been rolled out on the iOS app. Custom Collections lets you curate your own lists of the restaurants you like which can be bookmarked and shared. The Dineline feature presents reviews and photos in separate tabs, and the Leaderboards 2.0 tab provides social rank to top reviewers and bloggers.
