The demand for eco-friendly products have come to spotlight in the recent times. Shoppers are now becoming aware of how their purchasing or consumption choices can impact animals and the environment.

This trend is driving a shift towards natural, sustainable and cruelty-free products. Cruelty-free means the products are manufactured and developed by methods which do not involve cruelty to animals. Many brands are still at an emerging stage and are continuously experimenting and coming up with beauty products that are cruelty-free and organic. Here are five leading brands that are promoting cruelty free products:

Super Smelly: It has a range of products from deodorants to pocket perfumes, face washes to lip balms and highly-effective face packs that are certified 100% Toxin-Free and Made Safe by SCA (Safe Cosmetics Australia). The products are free from harmful chemicals like sulphates, parabens, triclosans, PEGs or Silicones. Super Smelly makes the first and only certified safe spray deodorants in India. No product has been tested on animals. It is dermatologically tested for safety specifically for 7-19 years of age, something that no other brand has done before for the age group.

Lotus Herbals: It is one of India’s leading natural cosmetics company working since 1993. Hugely popular for their sunscreens, Lotus herbals provides makeup-products that use herbal ingredients and are cruelty-free. The brand has a range of makeup products which includes foundations, compacts, blush, lipstick, eyeliner, kajals, eyeshadows, sindoor, nail enamels, and makeup removers.

Bio Organics & Natural (BON): With an aim to provide an alternative to chemical makeup, BON introduced an eye-shadow made of interesting ingredients such as Activated Charcoal of Bamboo, Cocoa Powder and Shea butter - all Certified Organic. It is a multi-purpose product that can be used not only as an eye-shadow but also as brow-filler and eyeliner. These are 100% natural and handmade.

Blue Heaven Cosmetics: This is one of the most affordable of cruelty free brands. They are easily available. The products range from lipsticks, sindhoor to foundations and nail paints.

Skinella: From the house of Cosmic Nutracos, Skinella was launched in July 2017 with a product portfolio of 19 skincare products that are all made from superfoods and no harsh chemicals. The product offered are face wash, face-mask, scrub, lip balm, etc. Every product goes through stability and compatibility tests for 6 months and passed under extremely high temperatures. The products are PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) certified for cruelty-free and vegan.
