Vivo V15 Pro Review: A Phone That Captures Excellent, Crisp And Detailed Selfies

Vivo has launched its new smartphone, V15 Pro- the successor of V11 Pro in India. The Chinese brand is bringing major upgrades in the new V15 Pro over its predecessor including 32-Megapixel pop-up selfie camera, ultra full view display with 91.64% screen-to-body ratio, Qualcomm 675 Processor, AI-triple rear camera setup, In-Display fingerprint sensor and more. We have used Vivo V15 Pro for more than a week and here is what we think about it.

Design and Display- Vivo V15 Pro comes with gradient glossy finish which gives the feel of glass but is actually made up of high-quality polished polycarbonate. There is a micro-dot pattern at the back, which looks nice and the company calls it “Spectrum Ripple Design”. The back panel is prone to smudges so a protective case is a must and Vivo ships this handset with one. The smartphone is very sleek and feels quite comfortable to hold. Microphone, 3.5mm headphone jack, and the Pop-Up selfie camera sit at the top of smartphone while the bottom features the SIM tray, speakers and a Micro-USB port. Then there is a triple camera arrangement at the back with 48-megapixel primary sensor, paired to an 8-megapixel unit that can capture ultra-wide shots and a 5-megapixel sensor to capture depth details. The proximity and light sensor hide inside the display. The left bezel has a dedicated Google Assistant button and the volume rocker and power key sit on the right bezel.

The front panel is dominated by the bezel-less AMOLED Full HD+ display. Vivo V15 Pro is equipped with a 6.39-inch Full HD+ Ultra Full View Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels along with a 2.5D curved glass. The panel is bright enough to maintain legibility under direct sunlight. The colors on the display are crisp and bright and the video viewing experience on the phone is amazing thanks to its Full View Display. The Fingerprint sensor is located within Display with improved and quick performance. It also supports face unlock which work seamlessly.

Camera- Vivo V15 Pro comes with triple camera setup comprising of a primary 48 MP lens, 8 MP wide-angle sensor, and 5 MP depth sensor. At the front, there is a 32-megapixel Pop-Up selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture. In daylight, the camera can capture rich colors, depth, and details very effectively. Sometimes we feel that the camera gives high saturation under direct sunlight but works very well under low sunlight or cloudy conditions. We loved its low light photography, however, the images are little soft in focus but can capture good amount of details. The smartphone comes with 12 MP default mode but you can select 48 MP mode from the settings to click high-resolution pictures but you will not recognize the difference by looking at them. The wide-angle mode also works well. The smartphone comes with various presets like standard, portrait, night mode, and pro mode. Now let’s talk about its 32MP Pop-Up selfie camera, it can capture excellent, crisp and detailed selfies. I personally liked night selfies due to great amount of lighting. Video performance was also good, and EIS made videos quite stable. You can record 1080p and 720p videos at up to 60fps, but 4K videos are capped at 30fps.

Performance- The Vivo V15 Pro comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset. It is one of the first phones to come to India with this processor. It has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage with an option for expandable storage via microSD card. The Vivo V15 Pro runs on FunTouch OS v9, which is based on Android 9 Pie. The day-to-day task was very smooth and switching between apps was fluid. We played PubG with High graphics, Free Fire and Wrestling Revolution for long hours but did not face any glitch and lag during the performance. In terms of benchmark scores, the V15 Pro on AnTuTu scored an impressive 177283. On Geekbench, the V15 Pro scored 2364 on a single-core and 6347 on the multi-core tests. It is powered by 3,700 mAh battery which can easily last long for a day after moderate usage of smartphone.

Conclusion- If you are looking for a great phone under 30K segment then it could be your choice due to its immersive display, premium design, and great cameras. We personally feel that USB Type-C port would have been welcomed. If you want to look elsewhere, then Nokia 8.1 and Oppo F11 Pro is worth mentioning at this segment.
