Japanese automotive parts manufacturer Toyoda Gosei is going to establish a new plant in India to meet growing automobile production and the expected increase in demand for airbags in the country, informed the company in an official statement.

The new Gujarat Plant will begin supplying airbags, weatherstrips and other automotive parts to Suzuki Motor Gujarat in the second half of fiscal 2018. The investment in the production facility is Rs 732 million.

Toyoda Gosei aims to expand its total sales in India to approximately Rs 2.5 billion by 2021.

The new plant is located in the western Indian state of Gujarat. It will be a branch plant of Toyoda Gosei Minda India (TGMIN), a subsidiary of Toyoda Gosei.

The company further added that it views India as an important market, and has been expanding production capacity in the country. After the new plant comes on line, Toyoda Gosei will have a production network of five plant locations in India.

The auto parts maker has predicted, as of end of March 2021, to employ approximately 330 people at the new Gujarat plant.

Today, the Toyoda Gosei Group has a network of approximately 100 plants and offices in 18 countries and regions.
