This Teachers' Day, we look at how our education system is changing with the recent times. There is now a need to include technology and use technology aided methods to transform the classroom and improve educational content being taught to the students.
With the help of technology, teachers, educators, students and parents have a variety of learning tools to choose from. Now teachers are able to collaborate to share their ideas and resources online. Moreover, now teachers and students have access to an expanse of material and through technology. Students can also develop valuable research skills at a young age, which is highly recommended in today's scenario and is a better learning method with a better scope.
According to Divya Gokulnath, Director and Teacher, BYJU's, "Education in India has witnessed a paradigm shift with technological innovations in this space. Today, teachers can redefine the way children learn by combining their teaching skills with tech enabled tools. They can create a huge impact and reach out to millions of children across the globe. Integrating technology in education not only increases engagement but also simplifies the way students learn."
The Director further added, "The Indian education scenario has evolved over the last few years. A lot has been happening in this space and if we can approach education with the right focus and plan, technology can help us shape the way India learns and create a huge impact in the coming years. With time, we will see a host of innovative tech powered learning products which will empower and promote better learning experiences right from a child's formative years. Children are primarily visual learners and explaining concepts with visual representations makes learning exciting and easier."
"Teaching is one of the most creative and powerful jobs. Teachers have a very significant and lifelong impact on children that extends far beyond- from shaping their mindset to giving them the launch pad for their thoughts and imaginations. I strongly believe that the role of a teacher is more of a 'performer' than just delivering a lesson the conventional way. It is no longer just about imparting knowledge, but they play a larger role of being a mentor, guide, career adviser and much more", said Vinay MR, Teacher and Chief Content Officer at BYJU's.
Harish Doraiswamy, Vice President- Schools and Qualifications, India and South Asia, Pearson said, "Teaching to digital natives has meant a paradigm shift in the way content is presented to students. Videos and animations are taken for granted and Augmented & Virtual Reality content is the talk of the town. The tools that are employed to stimulate learning within the classroom and outside and the manner in which smart assessments are used to drive student insights have undergone a massive up-gradation."
