TTK Prestige: King Of The Kitchen

Time was when the pressure cooker was almost a family heirloom that lasted a quarter of a century; not something that would generate high replacement sales. Could that be why TTK Prestige was debt-laden in the mid-2000s? Seven years ago, it began paring down its debt, and the India consumption story boosted sales. The company's product lines expanded across the range of cookware, and it leveraged its distribution and retail presence. Growing urbani-sation helped too. The turn of fortunes shows in the stock performance. When the benchmark went up by just 36 per cent (remember, 2007 was the year of the global financial crisis), TTK Prestige returned 23 times (or 2,297 per cent). In a 3-year period, it returned just over 32 times, when the benchmark returned 91 per cent. Talk about cooking up a storm.
