Star Retailer Awards By Franchise India

Franchise India 2012, the 10th edition of Asia’s Franchise & Retail exhibition, was held on 4 November in New Delhi. The highlight of the evening was Franchise India’s unique CSR initiative for enabling ‘Mompreneurship’ in India.

Burg Watches and KG Retail Ventures were honoured with “Young Brands for Young India” for their innovative technology, followed by Veena Kumaravel, Co-founder of Naturals who was honoured as the Best Women Entrepreneur and Green Trends Hair and Style saloon which was awarded as the Debutant Professional of the year at 10th Award ceremony of Franchise India.

Gaurav Marya, chairman, Franchise India said, “We are proud of providing a platform to honour the top most brands for their respective contributions in the industry through their practices. These Awards have gained immense credibility in both franchise & retail categories.  We hope to further continue to raise the bar of growth and opportunities for networking and recognitions in the industry.”

They were judged by an independent panel of experts and supported by the Indian Franchise Association (IFA) & Entrepreneur India Advisors.

Star Retailer Awards is the only award of its kind for the retail industry. It is a singular platform for everyone from independent entrepreneurial retailers to the largest supermarket groups. These awards celebrated the outstanding achievements across the retail fraternity.

The corporate social responsibility initiative of Franchise India 2012 this year was to launch the ‘Mompreneur’. The objective was to create an enabling ecosystem that will empower women and get them to draw on their inherent strengths and also overlay business opportunities most suited for mothers. Actor cum business entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty who has recently become a mother herself was roped in to raise awareness for the need for moms to be in business. The event showcased over 300 mom-friendly business opportunities and was attended by more than 25,000 people.
