Sony recently launched its new smartphone Xperia XA1 Ultra in India at a price of Rs. 29,900. The major highlights of the new smartphone are 6-inch HD display, 23-megapixels rear, and 16-megapixels front camera. Recently Honor 8 Pro and Oneplus 5 were also launched in India under the same price category, so which device among three is worth your 30-grands?

Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra

Xperia XA1 Ultra runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and powered by MediaTek Helio P20 Octa-core 64-bit processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It has 64GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB through a MicroSD card.

XA1 features a 6-inch full-HD (1920x1080) with 2.5D curved glass. It sports a 23-MP rear camera with Hybrid Autofocus, Exmos RS image sensor, f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. On the front is a 16-MP selfie camera with 23-mm wide angle lens, Optical Image Stabilisation, f/2.0 aperture and LED flash.

The dual-SIM handset is backed by a non-removable 2700mAh battery with fast charging. The device measures 165x79x8.1mm and weigh 188 grams. Connectivity options of the smartphone are-Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C, LTE (4G), 3.5mm audio-jack, A-GPS, and GLONASS. 

Price and Availability- Launched on July 20, new Xperia XA1 Ultra is priced at Rs. 29,990. The device will be available through offline channels in gold, white, pink, and black shades.

Honor 8 Pro

Honor 8 Pro runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with company’s Emotion UI 5.1 skin on top.  The handset is powered by Octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 960 coupled with 6GB of RAM. The smartphone has internal storage of 128GB which can be expanded up to 256GB through a hybrid dual-SIM configuration; the SIM 2 slot becomes a MicroSD card slot.

The device features a 5.7-inch QHD (2560x1440) LTPS LCD display with 2.5D curved glass on top. It sports a dual camera setup on the rear with 12-megapixel+12-megapixel sensors, f/2.2 aperture and dual tone LED Flash. On the front is an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture. 

Honor 8 is backed by a non-removable Lithium-polymer 4000mAh battery which supports fast charging, it takes only 30 minutes of charging will charge the battery to 35 per cent. The device has a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and 3.5mm audio-jack. 

The connectivity options of smartphone are- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, USB 2.0 Type-C, 4G VoLTE, A-GPS and GLONASS.

Price and Availability- Launched on July 6, Huawei’s latest flagship smartphone Honor 8 Pro is available at Rs. 29,999 in India. The smartphone is exclusively available on Amazon in midnight black and navy blue shades.

OnePlus 5

OnePlus 5 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with company’s OxygenOS on top and powered by 2.45Ghz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.

The smartphone is available in two RAM and storage configurations of 6GB RAM/64GB storage and 8GB RAM/128GB, there is no MicroSD card slot in the smartphone and storage cannot be expanded.

OnePlus 5 features a 5.5-inch full HD (1920x1080) optic AMOLED display with 2.5D Corning Glass Glass 5 protection on top. It sports a dual camera on the rear with 16-megapixel+20-megapixel sensors and dual LED Flash where the first one is a wide-angle camera with f/1.7 and the second one is a telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture. On the front is a 16-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and Screen Flash.

The smartphone is backed by a non-removable 3300mAh battery which supports Dash Charge. The handset has dedicated slots for dual-SIM (nano+nano) configuration. The smartphone also has a front mounted fingerprint sensor which unlocks it in 0.2 seconds.

Connectivity options of OnePlus 5 includes- Wi-Fi 2x2 MIMO, Wi-fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm audio-jack, USB 2.0, Type-C, GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou.

Price and availability- OnePlus launched the much-awaited flagship smartphone OnePlus 5 on 22 June in India. The new smartphone is exclusively available on Amazon and OnePlus store- their official website.

Launched on June 22, OnePlus’ much-awaited smartphone is available in two RAM and storage configurations of 6GB RAM/64GB storage and 8GB RAM/128GB at Rs 32,999 and Rs 37,999 respectively. The 6GB RAM variant comes in Grey Slate shade and the 8GB RAM variant comes in Midnight Black shade.

OnePlus 5 is the successor of 3T which was launched last year in December at Rs 29,999. OnePlus 5 is the most expensive smartphone ever made by its manufacturer though it has a reasonable price when compared with its competitors- Samsung Galaxy S8, Google Pixel XL, HTC U 11 or iPhone 7.

Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra seems pretty overpriced when compared to its competitors Honor 8 Pro and OnePlus 5 which offers a lot more in the same price range.
