During the lockdowns, many businesses relied on remote monitoring systems and technology backed integrated facility management (IFM) systems to keep their operations going. Soteria Command Center, a technology firm that is a one- stop shop for all kinds of IFM services was among those that offered security and risk prevention needs of businesses at this juncture. Soteria Command Center focuses on monitoring key parameters and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) via Internet of Things (IoT) devices and Artificial Intelligence.

Technology Vs Manpower
Six years ago remote monitoring solutions came with their own costs and infrastructure and businesses were not ready to invest in them right away. It was not just a concept that needed to be worked on. It required a change in the mindset, which was a challenging task for the company. Customers in the traditional security and facility management space were sceptical of the technology for security and efficient functioning of their
premises.

“When we entered into this space with our technology offerings, our first task at hand was to spread awareness that remote monitoring and surveillance givea pre-emptive security. It can stop the crime even before it happens. Another challenge was justifying the ROI, (rate of return),” says Anuj Rajain, Founder and CEO, Soteria Command Center. For many business and facility owners, security personnel covering the perimeter of a facility was a better approach than CCTV cameras. Many were under the impression that CCTV cameras are used as evidence of crime, rather than for prevention of crime. “It’s not till the pandemic that businesses prioritised security and FM automation when manpower became vulnerable to the infection. We knew it before but it took customers a pandemic to realize that it was time for them to invest in both technology and manpower that complement and substitute each other whenever and wherever required,” says Rajain.

The Pandemic During the pandemic, businesses recognised the importance of remote monitoring and IoT enabled security. Soteria Command Center has gained three times more traction with clients during the pandemic than before it. “They are looking at minimising the human intervention in mundane or repetitive operations and that’s exactly where we come in. From ensuring 100 per cent compliance with SOPs to safeguarding premises, assets, and people from security breaches, Soteria’s remote monitoring solutions can be applied to almost all non-core operations in a workplace setting,” says Rajain.

He founded Soteria Command Center in 2014 and over the last five years, the company has witnessed 100 per cent growth in revenue year-on-year (y-o-y) with a minimal increase of ten per cent in human resources. The company has started widening its reach to multiple industries and is going into domains where it was considered near impossible to have a unified approach to IFM. The two-year plan for Soteria Command Center is focused on IoT- enabled AI, AI Algorithm to run on any SoC and convergence of the gap between manpower and technology enabled solutions.
