Samsung Updates Its Tizen Portfolio With Z3

Samsung has been pushing its home brewed mobile operating platform Tizen for a couple of years now and have also been using it for their smartwear devices including the Gear S and the new Gear S2. While the platform is still not very popular, it took a decent jump when the company announced the Z1 feature phone earlier this year. According to the company, the handset has got a good response and have sold about one million units.

Today the company announced a new product that will be running on the latest version of Tizen OS, the Samsung Z3. The mobile phone is a higher version of the Z1 with a new design and better hardware. You get a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, something which is not seen in low end Samsung handsets. On the inside there is a 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage that's expandable via a microSD card to up to 128GB. At the back there is an 8MP camera with an LED flash, and a 5MP front-facing camera. The handset will come with an Ultra Power Saving mode which turns off most of the battery consuming features leaving you with basic phone calling and messaging features. For data conscious users, Samsung has also put the Ultra Data Saving feature which basically compresses your data. Samsung has also tied up with two ex-Nokia apps, Mix Radio and Here Maps to give users lifetime free access to a large variety of music content and offline navigation.

Apart from announcing the handset a new rewards program app called My Galaxy was also announced by Samsung which will be available for Samsung handsets on the Google Play store as well as the Tizen app store. It will be an all-rounder app to provide the consumer with a variety of services. The app will have offers and deals from partners including Amazon, Paytm, BookMyShow, CouponDunia and Pizza Hut. There will be a services option which will give users access to recharges, food, and travel offers. A service feature which will help users find Samsung stores and service centres and also a payback points system which can be redeemed at Samsung Stores.

The Z3 will be available exclusively from Snapdeal in three colour options, black, silver and golden with a price tag of Rs. 8,490.
