When most of the smartphone brands are struggling to place their product under the budget segment, on the other hand, Samsung has launched its M30 model at price of Rs 14999.

The newly launched phone is equipped with 6.4 inch Super AMOLED Display, Rear-Triple camera setup and 5000mAh mammoth battery.

We have used Samsung M30 for more than two weeks and here is what we think.

Design- The design of Samsung M30 is very similar to Samsung M10 and M20. It is equipped with 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with its teardrop notch with houses front camera. The volume rockers and power button are situated on the left side while SIM- tray at right. You can find 3.5 mm jack, USB-C type port and speaker grille at the bottom of smartphone.

The back panel of the smartphone is made up of plastic and designed with two-tone gradient finish. Most of the smartphones have finger sensor situated right at the center, however, the company wants you to slight your finger little up when you are using Samsung M30.

It has vertically aligned triple camera setup at rear side with LED flash. Overall the smartphone looks premium and easy to hold, despite having 5000mAh mammoth battery.

Display- Samsung M30 is equipped with 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution (1080x2340 pixels) and aspect ratio of 19.5:9. We feel that this is the best display you can have in this segment. The Display is crisp, vibrant and panel is bright enough to maintain legibility under direct sunlight.

The Samsung M30 has support for the Widevine L1 DRM protocol so you will be able to stream Netflix in HD. The smartphone also has a feature of Blue light filter which is very useful for those who love to play games and watch videos for a longer time.

Camera- Samsung M30 equipped with triple camera setup at the rear that consist 13-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.9 aperture, a 5-megapixel depth sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter.

At the front, there is 16- megapixel selfie shooter camera which takes bright and crisp selfies. The smartphone can capture decent snaps but sometime it tries to fill up extra light resulting in overexposed snaps. The front shooter can capture detailed and crisp selfies. 4K and Slow-Motion option is not available in the device. The Camera app is updated via OTA update and now it offers sense optimizer. We really like the performance of wide angle lens.

Performance- The smartphone is powered by an Exynos 7904 chipset which is built on a 14nm process. It comes with two variants - 4GB and 64GB, and 6GB and 128GB variant which cost Rs 14990 and Rs 17990 respectively.

We got 4GB RAM variant for review and we didn’t find any lag while switching between apps. We played many high-end games like PUBG, Free Fire and FIFA for long hours but did not face any major glitches or lag in between. The smartphone is good for day-to-day task and we personally liked the UI of smartphone.

Samsung M30 also support Dolby ATMOS but usable only when connected to speakers or headphones. We found that the audio level of smartphone is not up to the mark but quality is at its best. The fingerprint sensor is quick and fast and face unlock also unlock the device very quickly. It comes with 5000mAh massive battery which can easily last long for two days after moderate usage of smartphone. We watched a movie on Hotstar streaming using mobile data and it just take 16 per cent of battery. In terms of benchmark scores, the Samsung M30 on AnTuTu scored an impressive 112019. On Geekbench, it scored 1338 on a single-core and 4203 on the multi-core tests. You can play HD content in Netflix as it supports Widevine L1 DRM protocol.

Verdict- The smartphone can perform day-to-day task effortlessly. The massive battery ensures that you don’t need charger whole day and Super AMOLED display is much better than its rival in the same segment. Considering its price and trust, the Samsung M30 offers good value for money. If you want to look elsewhere, then Redmi Note 7 Pro, Realme 3 Pro and Asus Zenfone M2 Pro are worth mentioning in this segment.
