Samsung recently launched its new smartphone Galaxy On Max at Rs 16,900. The device has been introduced right after the launch of Samsung Galaxy J7 Max which has the same specs as Galaxy On Max. In the mid-range segment Samsung launched almost two identical devices; is the company competing with itself?
The only difference, on paper, in the two smartphones is within their processors where J7 Max features MediaTek MT6757 Helio P20 processor; Galaxy On Max has MediaTek MTK P25 Lite processor.
Also, there are other smartphones on same lines as Samsung Galaxy On Max in this price category like Moto G5 Plus and the upcoming Nokia 6 which users can buy.In this price-range users should keep in mind about Moto’s G5 Plus and upcoming Nokia 6.
Samsung Galaxy J7 Max Vs Samsung Galaxy On Max
Samsung J7 Max runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and powered by 1.69GHz octa- core MediaTek MT6757 Helio P20 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It has an inbuilt storage of 32GB which is expandable up to 256GB through a MicroSD card.
Samsung Galaxy On Max also runs on Android 7.0 Nougat, it is powered by MediaTek MTK P25 Lite Octa Core 1.6 Ghz processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. The device has internal storage of 32GB which is expandable up to 256GB through a MicroSD card.
Camera and Display
Both Samsung smartphones feature a 5.7-inch full HD (1920x1080) display and sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and LED Flash. On the front of both devices is a 13-megapixel camera for selfies with f/1.9 aperture and LED Flash.
For Galaxy On Max, Samsung claims that its camera clicks brilliant pictures under all light conditions.
Battery and other features
Samsung Galaxy J7 Max and Galaxy On Max are backed by a non-removable 3300mAh battery. Both smartphones dual-SIM handsets have a fingerprint sensor below the display. Connectivity options are- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio-jack, Micro USB, GPS and GLONASS.
First launched in J7 Max, On Max also comes with Samsung Pay Mini feature where users can turn their Samsung smartphones into a wallet, storing credit and debit cards.
Price and Availability
Galaxy J7 Max is available through offline channels and Samsung’s official website in black and gold shades at Rs 17,900.
On the other hand, Galaxy On Max is exclusively available on Flipkart in black and gold shades at Rs. 16,900. Galaxy On Max is all set to go on sale from 10 July 2017, 11:59 pm onwards.
In this price-range users should keep in mind about Moto’s G5 Plus and upcoming Nokia 6.
Yet to be released in the market, the much anticipated Nokia 6 will be exclusively available on Amazon at Rs 14,999 and the registrations will start from 14 July.
Nokia 6 smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 and powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. It features a 5.5-inch full HD (1920x1080) IPS LCD display. The device comes with four color options- tempered blue, matte black, silver and copper.
It sports a 16-megapixels rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual tone LED Flash, on the front is an 8-megapixel camera. The smartphone has an internal storage of 32GB; the storage can be expanded up to 128GB through a MicroSD card.
It is backed by a non-removable 3000mAh and has a 3.5mm audio jack. Connectivity options includes- Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS.
Moto G5 Plus
The successor of Moto G4 Plus was launched back in February. The Moto G5 Plus runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and powered Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa-core processor. It comes in two variants with 3GB/16GB and 4GB/32GB RAM/internal storage configurations which are priced at Rs 14,999 and Rs 16,999 respectively; the storage on both variants is expandable up to 128GB through a MicroSD card.
Moto G5 Plus features a 5.2-inch full HD (1920x1080) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Talking about the camera, it sports a 12-megapixel rear camera f/1.7 large aperture and dual LED flash. On the front is a 5-megapixel selfie camera with wide-angle lens, f/2.2 aperure and display flash.
The dual-SIM (nano+nano) handset is backed by a 3000mAh battery with TurboPower charger which gives 6 hours of power in just 15 minutes of charging. It has a fingerprint sensor below the display and comes in lunar gray and fine gold shades.
