As cloud computing gets more pervasive, the netbook market is growing. It not only offers great value for money but also takes care of computing needs well. However, this market is also crowded with the likes of Lenovo, Dell, HP amongst others with decent offerings. Will Asus Vivobook X509 be able to offer something more?

Asus Vivobook X509
Over the past few months, ASUS has totally redesigned its entire laptop range, with even the most affordable X509 model getting a fresh, exciting new look and new components. Available in transparent Silver and Slate Grey, this laptop line-up looks decent. Inside, they are packed with powerful mobile components that include high-performance 8th Generation Intel CoreTM U-series processors and the latest NVIDIA MX230 discrete graphics.

Display
The X509 features a large 15.6-inch display and features the NanoEdge display bezels that maximize their screen sizes while minimizing their body size.

Body Size AndDimensions
The body dimensions are is 36.0(W) x 23.5(D) x 2.29(H) cm and the laptop weigh 1.9 kgs

Processor
The laptop comes with 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8565U processors.

Pricing
Pricing starts at Rs.30,990 and goes upto Rs.50,000

Ports and Connectors
The X509 offers a wide variety of ports and connectors of any ASUS laptop to ensure compatibility with old and new devices. Full-size HDMI ports allow you to connect X509 to any existing projector or TV. In addition, you have the USB 3.1 Type-C port for your other devices.

Other Features
Laptop HDDs are generally more susceptible to physical damage than SSDs. The HDDs used in X509 now feature E-A-R HDD shock dampening to protect your data from physical impact. Active hard-drive protection automatically detects shock and vibration across all three axes to effectively reduce the chances of HDD damage, so you can work without worry, even in a moving vehicle.

What’s Great

Affordability
These are some of the more affordable ASUS series and should take care of the normal consumer’s day to day needs pretty well. It isn’t something meant for someone who is into hardcore gaming or graphic designing.

Good Configuration
The specifications available whichinclude8th Generation Intel CoreTM U-series processors and the latest NVIDIA MX230 discrete graphics along with other features at this price point is pretty good.

 What’s Not Great

Display And Design
The display could have been better. It leaves an aftertaste of wanting something more. The colours do warm up in some time but there could be more consistency. Similarly, the ASUS signature minimalistic design looks good but in this laptop with the plastic finish, it leaves a little more to be desired.

The Last Word
In a crowded marketplace, ASUS Vivobook X509 does stand out in terms of affordability and features. There isn’t any major reason to complain.  A little tweaking on the display and design front could have added to make this a formidable bet. However, for the average user looking for a good laptop for his daily computing needs, Vivobook X509 is a great piece.
