Rajni Bector Awarded Padma Shri For Her Role In Promotion Of Sustainable Growth

In 1978, she started her business from home. Moving ahead with the changing times, she established a company that started selling various products under the initial brand name 'Mrs Bectors Food Specialities'.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Central Government, on Monday, facilitated Rajni Bector, founder and chairman emeritus, Mrs Bector’s Food Specialties, with the Padma Shri award for her role in the promotion and sustainable growth of trade and industry.

The official handle of President Ram Nath Kovind shared the news on Twitter. "President Kovindpresents Padma Shri to Smt. Rajni Bector for Trade and Industry. She is the Founder of Cremica Group of Companies. She has dedicated her life to enriching communities around her and empowering womanhood in many forms, it tweeted.

Rajni Bector, who is known for starting Mrs Bector's Cremica, a popular food brand, is among the 102 people named for the prestigious Padma Shri award by President Ram Nath Kovind.

The Punjab-based businesswoman stepped into the food industry around 43 years ago. At that time, her husband late Dharamvir Bector and father-in-law late Lakshman Das inspired her and encouraged her for the business.

In 1978, she started her business from home. Moving ahead with the changing times, she established a company that started selling various products under the initial brand name 'Mrs Bectors Food Specialities'.

Kovind presented a total of 119 Padma awards and the list consists of seven Padma Vibhushan awards, 10 Padma Bhushan and 102 Padma Shri awards. 

A total of 29 awardees are women, 16 are posthumous awardees, and one of the recipients is a transgender awardee.

"Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were the Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Modi, Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah," as per the official statement. 

The Central Government awarded Shinzo Abe, Late BJP politician Sushma Swaraj with the Padma Vibhushan award in public affairs, Belle Monappa Hegde in medicine, Narender Singh Kapany in science and engineering, S Balasubramanium in art, B.B Lal in archaeology, Sudarshan Sahoo in art, and Maulana Wahiuddin Khan in the field of spirituality. Air Marshal Dr Padma Bandopadhyay received the Padma Shri award in the field of medicine.

Bollywood filmmaker and producer Karan Johar, singer Adnan Sami, producer Ekta Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut received the Padma Shri for their contribution in the field of performing arts.
