The last two decades saw many Indian women shatter the glass ceiling in the corporate world and attain prominent positions at the management level. While that trend is still strong, today, there is a rising breed of young female go-getters, bitten by the entrepreneurial bug, who want to make a difference to the world. One such person is Priyanka Gill, a fashion journalist-cum-digital media entrepreneur, who had envisioned creating quality content for the female fraternity.
Gill is the Founder and CEO of Luxeva, the company that’s behind three of the biggest digital brands: POPxo, Plixxo and Luxeva. She is a BW Businessworld 40 Under 40 winner. “We are a company by women for women,” says Gill, adding that this helps to create relatable, helpful and engaging content for women across categories including fashion, beauty, wedding, work and relationships. With a base of the target audience of millions of millennial women, its leading digital brands POPxo, Plixxo and Luxeva connect to its users via content and influencers.
POPxo is India’s largest multi-lingual digital community for women with over 42 million users. POPxo has also launched its private e-commerce label with lifestyle products designed for millennials. Plixxo is the largest influencer marketing platform with over 39,000 influencers currently. Luxeva is a digital-first luxury content platform that covers all lifestyle categories with a strong affiliate product sales component. The company’s 183-strong team consists of 68 per cent women.
“We are a media-tech company that’s behind some of India’s biggest digital brands: POPxo, Plixxo and Luxeva. The three platforms work in tandem to reach millions of users organically, engaging them with relatable and helpful content. All this is done with a view to redefine the digital media landscape in India by unlocking the potential of content, influencer and commerce,” adds Gill.
POPxo Shop further strengthens POPxo’s position as a content-influencer-commerce platform. The large user base, proven digital market capabilities and data-driven insights into what users want help POPxo successfully create, launch and market DTC brands for millennial women across beauty, fashion and lifestyle categories. To capitalise on the growth in the influencer market, Plixxo was launched in 2017 as an influencer marketplace.

Describing her challenges as a founder, Gill says, “My challenges were the same as any other of my peers: building and validating a business model, attracting investment and building a strong team to execute. My journey as an entrepreneur has been one of the most rewarding experiences. Thanks to the phenomenal support of our investors, the industry and my team we have built strong digital brands. It has been the best learning experience I could have ever wished for and I hope that it inspires entrepreneurs, especially women to step out of their comfort zone and take that leap into the unknown.”
On another note, she says: “I don’t come from a business or management background — so I constantly try to upskill myself through reading and interacting with leaders I respect and admire.”
On the road ahead, she says, “Three years from now, Luxeva will be a mature content-commerce company with strong sales across our private-label, especially our beauty and fashion ranges. We would have launched mini-labels with our Plixxo influencers. Plixxo will be present in other geographies as a leading influencer marketplace.”
