With Canon and Nikon introducing their Full Frame mirrorless product lineup, Panasonic was the only camera manufacturer left without a Full frame product in its otherwise very successful mirrorless product lineup.
With the introduction of the Lumix S series of cameras – the S1 and S1R, Panasonic has entered the full frame mirrorless market with a bang. The new cameras come with two different sensors. The Lumix S1R has a 47-megapixel sensor, while the Lumix S has a 24-megapixel sensor. The higher-resolution S1R is designed to appeal to professional stills photographers. The S1 and S1R offer 4K video capture, just like their full-frame rivals, but they will offer frame rates of up to 60/50p, which Panasonic claims is a world first for full frame cameras. The S1R and S1 will offer a combination of in-body image stabilization (IBIS) and lens-based optical stabilization. Panasonic has done this “Dual IS” system before with its Micro Four Thirds cameras, offering more shake compensation than either system on its own.
Panasonic has also announced three new lenses for the Lumix S range. They are a 24-105mm f/4 standard zoom lens, a 50mm f/1.4 fast prime, and a 70-200mm f/4 constant aperture telephoto zoom.
The Panasonic Lumix S1 is priced at INR 199,990 the body only, with the 24-105 F4 kit lens it costs INR 267,990. The S1R body only is priced at INR
