POWERGRID Commissions 765 Kv Double Circuit Vindhyachal – Varanasi Transmission Line

This takes the total capacity of the National Grid to 110750 MW in the country.

The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited commissioned the 765 Kilo Volt (Kv) Double Circuit (D/C) Vindhyachal – Varanasi Transmission Line on Wednesday which shall provide strong connectivity between the Northern and Western Regions of the country and facilitate reliable flow of power.

The 190-km long transmission line transverses tough geographical areas and crosses four rivers including Ganga, Gopad, Meyar & Sone. The 92-km portion of this transmission line passes through Madhya Pradesh and the remaining 98-km passes through Uttar Pradesh.

The commissioning of this transmission line would benefit the overall social and economic system as it will enable reliable flow of power to industries and households, particularly in the Northern and Western regions and the country in general as well. Also, the inter-regional power transfer capacity of the national grid has now been enhanced by 4200 MW, taking the total capacity to 110750 MW in the country.
