Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the public to nominate for Peoples' Padma those who are doing exceptional work at the grassroots but not much known. Nominations are open till 15th September.

"India has many talented people, who are doing exceptional work at the grassroots. Often, we don't see or hear much of them. Do you know such inspiring people? You can nominate them for the #PeoplesPadma. Nominations are open till 15th September. http://padmaawards.gov.in," PM Modi tweeted, sharing the link of the website.

The Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards are the highest civilian honors of the country. Instituted in 1954, these awards are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day.

These awards recognize achievements in all areas of activities or disciplines where an element of public service is involved. The enrollment process is open to the public. Even self-nomination can be done.

The Prime Minister constitutes the Padma Awards Committee every year. Padma Awards are conferred on the recommendations made by this committee.
