In the past year, as COVID began expanding its ambit across the world, offices and schools closed down. This simultaneously created a shift in our daily lifestyles as people have become ever-increasingly committed to their laptop screens for most of their days. Add to this the increasing work pressure and extended working hours, which is also increasing blue light exposure for our eyes that are constantly pinned to a display.

Due to the digitization of work and studies during the pandemic, laptop demand is surging as well. The brands are coming with new and innovative technologies that enhance their users’ productivity without any compromises in terms of design. Many laptop features are trending during the WFH situation, however, demand for a good display and fast performance remains a priority.

OLED technology is not novel and has already been witnessed in modern television sets. The technology has been around for a few years and is rapidly taking over the laptop market as well. OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology offers a high contrast level and its per-pixel light-emitting diodes offer notably vivid and realistic-looking colors on the screen. One of the distinguishing factors is that a black OLED panel appears pitch-black without any white cast or gradient. This results in a significant boost in the picture quality of the laptop as well as its accuracy, which enhances the overall viewing experience for users. Since pixels on an OLED panel can be lit individually, they don’t require an additional backlighting panel, which results in a noticeably lighter laptop. The technology also enables cutting down on power consumption, thereby providing a longer battery backup. Other advantages include a super-fast response time for a lag-free experience.

OLED laptops are a great choice for creators, video editors, and photographers who require a vibrant and color-accurate screen. Additionally, they are also beneficial for maintaining users’ eye health in the long run.

Fast adoption of the OLED display in Smart classrooms/ digital classrooms

Due to the pandemic, using adequate technology is imperative for the students. Especially with the huge shift from a traditional classroom to a digital one, which resulted in increased screen time. Students spend long hours every day looking at screens due to online classes. Over time, this could contribute to the development of eye-related ailments, most common of which is termed digital eye strain. Constantly staring at a screen might also lead to eye redness, dryness, grittiness, and tiredness, along with headaches, sleepiness, eye pain, shoulder and back pain, and blurred vision for both near and distant objects, thereby hampering one’s productivity. OLED laptops, in comparison with any standard LCD screen, deliver 1.3x higher perceptual brightness, allowing users to view any content with higher clarity, even on lower brightness. This results in less brightness and blue light radiations reaching your eyes. As smart classrooms and online sessions are the future, technology that provides a good viewing and sound experience must be incorporated to build a proper infrastructure for students at home and in classrooms.

Creative Professional’s Best Friend

A laptop equipped with a powerful graphics card or a powerful processor is vital for professionals working in the creative sector. These top-end components enable laptops to handle graphically intensive applications without any lag. However, one needs to consider other components too while searching for the best laptop for their requirement. A display capable of relaying lifelike images and reducing eye strain is just as important.

OLED laptops are potentially lightweight in nature and energy-efficient, providing creative professionals, photographers, content creators, and graphic designers to work with a laptop that’s easy to carry while being equipped with a quality screen. They offer remarkable color accuracy and more vibrant colors along with superior contrast and black levels, which comes in handy for professionals, particularly in the creative field. The OLED display has the power to turn individual pixels on and off, as opposed to groups of pixels in LCDs. This makes an OLED display capable of producing a more accurate image. With lower power consumption, elegant designs, and better durability, a laptop equipped with an OLED display is easily one of the best options available for professionals in creative fields.

Keeping performance at the core, as well as the eye-health of the users in mind, ASUS has incorporated an OLED display in their latest laptops. OLED screens are an investment and laptops offering this screen technology are generally placed on the upper side of the price segment. However, purchasing one will be easier once consumers evaluate its importance and prioritise eye healthcare along with other varied advantages such as excellent color reproduction, wide viewing angles, high contrast, and fast response times that the OLED screens offer. Purchasing one will surely be a cost-effective choice for users, as an excellent future investment.
