Here are 5 supposedly foods that are considered unhealthy but are absolutely filled with nutrition

Yes, you read that right! All your guilty pleasures are actually nutritious! Since our childhood, we’ve been conditioned to stay away from certain food items because they are termed as ‘unhealthy or not nutritious’. However, I believe that anything and everything consumed in appropriate proportions is good for your health. You can satisfy your taste buds without any guilt and quench your cravings by having sumptuous yet nutritious food.

Here are 5 supposedly foods that are considered unhealthy but are absolutely filled with nutrition:

Popcorn
We are not talking about caramel or cheese popcorn. The plain popcorn puffs are the right ones to eat. They are the best low-calorie snack and are packed with antioxidants. Did you know that popcorn keeps your digestive system healthy?  So, the next time hunger pangs come calling, you know what to order.

Potato
Potatoes have always been considered unhealthy. However, what not many people know, is that potatoes are rich in potassium, calcium and fiber. Eating potatoes unpeeled is the best thing to do as most of the nutrition lies in its skin. Wash them well under water to get rid of all the dirt and pesticides and bake or roast it instead of boiling them.

Dairy Products
Low fat dairy products have various benefits as they are full of calcium and protein. They help to keep your bones strong and keep you full for a longer time. Milk, buttermilk, lassi or cheese are things you should definitely consume on a daily basis.  I have always seen people avoid eating cheese and butter while on diet, indeed it is high in saturated fat and calorie. But, it is really rich in nutrients, vitamin A, calcium and more.

Peanut Butter
Every time I added a spoon full of peanut butter to my slice of bread, I heard a voice screaming “this is unhealthy!”  But not anymore, you can have as much as peanut butter you want. It has the right amount of fiber and minerals. Unsalted is the best way to enjoy your peanut butter. Not only is it easy to digest, but also lowers the risk of coronary diseases.

Dark Chocolate 
Chocolates have always been a part of all our childhood; I have never heard anyone say ‘I do not like chocolate’. As we grew up, we all started getting health conscious but we never wanted to give up on chocolate. It has always been on the top of the list of unhealthy foods. The next time you eat chocolate do not feel guilty; instead just grab a bar of dark chocolate as cocoa beans have heart healthy flavonoids and antioxidants. It also boots your grasping and memory power. This delicious treat not just improves your mood and keeps you happy but also adds a lot of nutritional value to your body.

Rice 
The common misconception is that you shouldn’t eat rice for dinner, or eat the brown variety over white. But rice has a certain amino acid that makes you calmer, and gives you very good sleep. While you can eat it for dinner, you must do so early, about three-four hours before you sleep. This way, your body will digest and assimilate the nutrients that’ll benefit you while you sleep. It also contains a fat-burning ingredient called inositol to help you lose weight. So guys, please feel free to have your favorite rice dish.
