New media is essentially a cyber-culture with modern computer technology: Amit Khanna

In the third edition of the India Business Literature Festival organized by BW Businessworld, Amit Khanna who is a renowned name and also an author, who shared some of the stories from his five decades of experience in Media and Entertainment. He briefly explained and gave insights from his upcoming book, “Words. Sounds. Images.”

The Indian Media and Entertainment (M&E) industry is a sunrise sector for the economy and is making significant strides. Proving its resilience to the world, the Indian M&E industry is on the cusp of a strong phase of growth, backed by rising consumer demand and improving advertising revenue. ”M&E industry has a role in shaping every aspect of our lives. It’s a 2 million dollar industry, which creates 50 million jobs. It’s all about leisure and Fulfillment”, Khanna says. 

The Ramayana and Mahabharata are examples of many splendored epics. Its influence stretches across centuries, countries and cultures because of its beautiful storytelling. The traditional Drama, Dance, Music and Art depicts the societal values time and again. These all are the traditional form of Media.” Cave paintings are yet another useful form of media which helps us to know our history. Pigeon was used as a message carrier. India has always been the early adaptors of M&E”, Khanna adds.
