For those who want to rent a car with a click of a button, Revv, a self-drive car service company announced the release of its mobile application on Monday. Available for download for both Android and iOS users, the company says that the app will deliver a smooth booking process and user-experience by allowing patrons to book a car with the minimum possible number of clicks.
The Delhi NCR based company was founded in May this year by McKinsey alumni, Anupam Agarwal and Karan Jain who were looking to tap the growing rental car segment in India, which is said to be comparable to that of China’s.
"We've seen phenomenal customer adoption since our launch in on July 27 catering to nearly 100 customers every day. We believe this could reach USD 5 Billion revenue market by 2020, as people increasingly adopt this product for mass-market use cases, just like it has happened in other similar geographies such as China and Brazil,” said Karan Jain, commenting on the launch.
“This new app, and more broadly the overall tech backbone is an essential part of our goal to make to cater to our customers’ growing desire to access convenient travel solutions from anywhere and at any time. We are also working on bringing more interesting innovations into the market in the form of modified cars and plan to add Harley-Davidson and Enfield bikes to the portfolio because the freedom to use-without-owning isn't only about cars,” he continued.
The company currently boasts of a fleet of 150 cars, with half of them being SUVs and the rest composed of ultra-luxury cars, sedans and hatchbacks. It also claims that it expects this number to swell to over 500 cars by the end of the year with the aspiration to be the largest self-drive car rental company in India, with a presence in 6-8 major cities within one year backed by a fleet of over 40,000 cars in 4 to 5 years.
The Revv app does not require signing in and provides detailed information, including the interior pictures of the cars available on rent. For now App users have the option to make their payments through credit card, debit card or net banking options. The company plans to add a mobile wallet payment option after a fortnight or so.
