Mumbai's Greatest Love Story - The all-new 7 Star Metro INOX - Launches Today

MUMBAI, November 14, 2017/PRNewswire/ -- - The cinematic icon from 1938 is now open, fully restored and featuring Mumbai's first- ever auditorium dedicated to children, KIDDLES

INOX Leisure, India's premier multiplex chain, is delighted to announce the opening of Metro INOX at Dhobi Talao, Mumbai. A beloved Mumbai icon from the 1930's, Metro has played a vital part in India's glorious cinematic history. Built and originally run by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), the cinema became Bollywood's most famous red-carpet theatre in the 1970's, after being taken over by the Gupta family. Now, Metro INOX opens its doors to cinema-goers who will delight in the venue's careful restoration that stays true to the essence of the original Metro, while offering the 7-star luxury touches for which INOX is so well-known.

A celebration of cinema, Metro INOX now offers the perfect mix of legacy and luxury. Upon entering the venue, guests will marvel at the heritage chandeliers, perfectly juxtaposed with a brilliant LED video wall. Movie buffs will enjoy the 1938-era MGM projector, from when Metro opened its doors; the Golden Ticket wall complete with tickets autographed by superstars, and a plethora of Bollywood's untold stories, unfolding for the first time on the video wall. Moving from the restored beauty of the nostalgic lobby, guests will enter the ultra-plush auditorium, featuring roomier seats with enhanced legroom, as well as cutting-edge sound and projection technology, brilliant, razor-sharp 4K visuals and the truest quality cinema surround sound of Dolby Atmos.

Metro INOX has not forgotten its younger patrons. For the first time ever, the brand has introduced KIDDLES - Mumbai's only auditorium dedicated exclusively to children. Patrons with children can begin their movie-going experience in an exclusive lounge area, where the young moviegoers can play and enjoy themselves before their movie begins; a carefully-crafted, kid-approved menu; and special birthday and other event packages, ideal for parents looking for a unique way to entertain their children and their friends.

The first to introduce an Augmented Reality (AR) experience to Asia at a multiplex, INOX is also offering this globally-acclaimed experience at its Metro venue. Guests will be enthralled by amazing, life-sized 3D characters and scenes as they're immersed in a unique, interactive digital environment.

Metro INOX's new Café Unwind offers visitors the perfect venue to relax while enjoying delicious food and drinks. What's more is that café-goers do not need a movie ticket to gain access to the café.

On Tuesday, November 14, Metro INOX has partnered with ConnectFor and the Kutumb Foundation, for a very special screening of the film Despicable Me (3D) for 45 underprivileged children, in celebration of Children's Day.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Siddharth Jain, Director, INOX Group says, "All our cinemas are special, however Metro INOX is especially unique, given its history, its contribution to the city of Mumbai for almost 80 years, and the way it immediately evokes nostalgia in the hearts of every Mumbaikar. The city may have changed, but the essence of this glorious, cinematic icon remains untouched. We are honoured to have been given the opportunity to play a role in its restoration, and we cannot wait to re-introduce this grand dame of cinema to Mumbai - and the rest of the country. We look forward to having you all join us as we begin a new chapter of Mumbai's greatest love story."

"Since the 1970's, our family has had the extraordinary opportunity to own and be a part of the Metro story. Metro was never a cinema; it has always been an institution. We have seen it evolve and transform over the years and we couldn't be happier that it is now opening as Metro INOX, with its former glory restored and with a forward-thinking vision that is sure to embrace a new generation of movie-goers," comments the Gupta family.
