If there is one homegrown company which is doing ground-level development for the Indian market, it is MapmyIndia, the country’s leader in digital maps and location technologies.

At a press conference in Gurgaon, the Delhi-based company announced the roll out of its ‘Real View’ platform that is capable of building the world’s first digital map twin of the real world. This real view twin will capture, recognize and publish 3D and 360 degree map of both the outdoors and indoors through GPS, laser and panoramic camera sensors embedded on top of ground-based vehicles, backpacks, trains, drones, and trolleys that can move indoors.

Furthermore, this new solution can be updated continuously by leveraging the company’s IoT (Internet of Things) platform, InTouch, which can process enormous streams of real-time video and data from vehicle sensors and professionally moderated crowd-sourced reports on traffic and road conditions.

Speaking on the occasion, Rakesh Verma, managing director, MapmyIndia, said, “We moved back to India (from the US) in the early 90s to give back to our country technology and innovation, and pioneered digital mapping in 1995. We are now geared up to pioneer building of the Real World Digital Map Twin, and are proud to say that India and MapmyIndia will lead the world in mapping innovation and technologies. We will be catering to our clients cutting across industry, government, automotive and consumer verticals in mapping the indoors, outdoors, in 360 degree, in 3D, and in real time, to enable a significantly better level of governance, business, transport and everyday live.”

Meanwhile, MapmyIndia has also announced a slew of new features, applications, strategic partnerships and acquisition. The company announced the acquisition of VidTeq, which is into Video Maps. The company has also made a number of announcements, including an AI-based navigation assistant along with a slew of partnerships with organizations like Indian Space Research Organization, Idea Cellular, Visit Health, Aatapaha Smart Lighting, Reverie Language Technologies, and Udacity India.
