Low On Confidence

To buy or not to? Consumers are facing the dilemma across the globe. The Nielsen Global Online Consumer Confidence Survey for Q2 FY2011-12 shows a downward trend against Q1. Only 21 of the 56 countries surveyed recorded a fillip. Among them, India stands tall, though its count has dropped 5 points to 126. The online survey saw 31,000 respondents. Globally, savings tops the list of utilisation of spare cash. In India too, only 54 per cent do so, against 65 per cent in Q1. About 40 per cent of the consumers surveyed here said they had to cut spends on clothes. The other crunch areas include power, technology and entertainment.
