A box of sweets and dry fruits are the most common and least desirable gifts in the festive season. A survey of 1,712 users by Zeta, a fin-tech company has found out that employees do not wish any further to receive sweets or dry fruits this festive season.
The survey found out that 9 percent of the employees pass on the gifts they receive to someone else. On the other hand, gifts cards or cash bonuses make for good gifts.
Digital gifting solutions are a good idea to keep the employees motivated. Corporate gifting contributes to 20 percent of the Rs 33,500 crore India’s gifting market. Corporate gifting in India has come a long way from giving cash bonuses, dry fruits, chocolates and paper vouchers to gift cards.
Gift cards are gaining popularity as ultimately they give the power of choice to the employees. Corporates are among the fastest adopters of new age gift cards technology platforms using it as tools to motivate their employees. Companies like Sodexo, Qwikcilver, Storecheq and Zeta are seeing the lucrative opportunity and are vying for a spot in the digital gifting space.
Stephane Michelin, CEO of Sodexo BRS India, said, “Sodexo is constantly developing solutions to suit the needs of the millennial workforce. Last year, we launched the Sodexo Premium Pass, which is already the preferred choice for employee gifting amongst companies across sectors. This festive season we have introduced India's first-ever limited-edition festive gift cards, to offer more personalized gifting options during key festivals in India. The cards are designed to offer employees endless choice to buy gifts of their choice while ensuring a great user experience; thereby enabling corporates to drive better employee engagement.”
