Lenovo Z5 Launched In China; Breaks Expectations
Last month, Lenovo's VP Chang Cheng teased the launch of an all-screen phone Lenovo Z5 but it turns out to be just like every other Android smartphone in the market. However, if Lenovo Z5 arrives in India at prices similar to those in China, then this phone is definitely going to turn a lot of heads around.
Lenovo Z5, the all-screen phone which Lenovo was teasing earlier has been finally launched in China today (June 5). The first thing that comes into our mind when we look at the newly launched Z5 is, “that’s not all-screen!”
Lenovo’s VP Chang Cheng shared a sketch of Z5 which indicated the absence of notch and a true bezel-less display but it turns out that Lenovo Z5 is just like every other smartphone which has a notch and a chin, this is not a technological breakthrough.
He posted on social media that “Lenovo Z5 will have a screen ratio of 95 percent, it will include four technological breakthroughs and 18 patented technologies”. He also hinted of 4TB storage, all which was just a marketing stunt.
Lenovo Z5 features a 6.2-inches FHD+ (2246x1080) IPS display with has 19:9 aspect ratio and 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. It comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor, 6GB RAM, 3,300mAh battery with fast charging, 64GB/128GB storage and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.
There is a 16-megapixels+8-megapixels vertically aligned dual rear camera setup with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, HDR and AI capabilities. On the front is an 8-megapixels selfie camera. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for unlocking the phone.
However, the company’s new marketing strategy is not so delightful but the prices of Lenovo Z5 certainly are with starting from CNY 1,299 (roughly Rs 13,620) for 64GB and CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs 18,860) for 128GB variant.
The handset will go on sale in China from June 12, which is the same date when Vivo’s truly bezel-less phone Apex is going to be launched.
