Lending A New Definition To Care
‘We now look to establish capable clinical centres through partnerships with local governments and organisations’
As Co-founder and Managing Director of Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, one of India’s leading maternity and child care network of hospitals, Rohit M.A. has been included in this year’s BW 40 under 40 for his entrepreneurial skills. Overwhelmed by the honour, Rohit says, “It’s a tremendous inspiration to know that my efforts over the years are in the right direction for meaningful impact creation. I take this honour back to my tremendous team as an acknowledgment of their belief and hard work.”
Cloudnine employs over 3,000 people and as a primary employer obligation, the group is responsible for over 4,500 people across 20 locations in seven cities. The success achieved by Cloudnine today is a result of the hard work and some key decisions, which made a major difference to the company’s fortune.
Talking about some of these key decisions Rohit says, “Over a decade ago, we started with a scalable proposition emulating the success of our first unit, which in itself took about four years of operations to nurture, understand and evaluate. From having to attract capital investment to bringing in key professionals in the company, I had the opportunity to steer the vision of the founding group and create the birthing sector in Indian healthcare.”
Rohit attributes the success to the tremendous team with which he had the privilege of working. He says that his capable and talented team who is always keen on experimentation and open to feedback makes them approachable for a range of best practices and differential thinking.
Over the years, the hard work and the dedication of the Cloudnine team has brought about a major impact in upheaval of the women and childcare healthcare specialty. “We have done this by bringing in demand for high quality lifesaving medical equipment, attracting global clinical talent, grooming a large network of upcoming clinicians, setting up beacons of clinical excellence centres where infant survival rate is among the highest in the world, impacting lives of over 4,500-member strong teams and their lives” says Rohit. He also adds that Cloudnine works with the core values of clinical excellence and vigilance of clinical outcome. “We have had the opportunity to also collaborate with many state governments to make a positive impact through training and skill development required to manage a pregnancy journey and it remains an ongoing effort as we now look to establish capable clinical centres through partnerships with local governments and organisations,” says Rohit.
Cloudnine is credited with being one of the most innovative healthcare chain in the country. Talking about the company’s growth, Rohit says, “The sector has seen a lot of growth and has attracted over Rs 2,000 crore in investments.
Achieving so much success needs inspiration and motivation. Rohit states that he too has had many mentors during his life journey from his very own family members to colleagues and peers and specifically notable professors at IIM-B who helped in structuring the scalable proposition of Cloudnine.
As a successful entrepreneur Rohit believes that having a solid level of foundation is vital to scale heights. “Spend a lot of time, energy and efficiency in strengthening your foundation,” he says while talking about his message to young entrepreneurs.
Rohit also draws inspiration from writings of the English poet E.E. Cummings. “I am curious by nature and constantly looking to learn, which helps me evolve through every interaction.”
