Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (LBSIM) recently celebrated its silver jubilee amidst fervour and enthusiasm. Established in 1995, to honour the memory of late Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, LBSIM has grown to become one of the most prominent B-schools in India. The institute’s philosophy is to educate and nurture budding young minds from diverse backgrounds to evolve as sensible business leaders.

LBSIM teaches its students to be upright citizens with a strong sense of responsibility towards the society while excelling in the corporate world through their pragmatic and humane approach. It achieves this through a valuebased quality business education, one of the many unique aspects of the institute’s curriculum.

The institute offers an array of programmes for students. At the same time, it caters to the current requirements of the corporate world by reinventing the curriculum and introducing practise-based programmes relevant to the industry. The institute offers a number of programmes recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Education, Government of India. These include two-year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Research & Business Analytics), twoyear full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (General), two-year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Financial Management), three-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Part-Time), 15-month fulltime Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Executive) and Fellow Programme in Management (FPM).

The pandemic provided an opportunity to deal with the new normal both in academic learnings and placements. Companies from sectors like FMCG, Consulting, IT and ITES, BFSI, Market Research and many more showed interest in recruiting students from the PGDM batch 2018-20 despite the slowdown in the economy. This is truly a testament to the longstanding reputation of LBSIM.

The institute went about the admission process for the 2020-2022 batch with utmost care and diligence, while following the lockdown protocols and restrictions and keeping in mind the current predicament of the students. The academic schedules were designed in such a fashion that the students and the professors had enough time to prepare and attend their next class. The schedules were extremely accommodating and well thought out to ensure smooth facilitation of classes.

The virtual aspect of the academic year thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown, however, did not discourage the students as they worked harder to find new ways to celebrate life at LBSIM. Many virtual events have taken place since the admission of the new batch. Being true to its mission, LBSIM has nurtured its students to be independently strong individuals who can lead and conduct themselves even in the face of adversity or hurdles.

LBSIM and its student body took it upon themselves to make sure that virtuality is not a hindrance but a stepping stone towards future endeavours.
