It Solutions For All-round Growth

Homegrown ERP and other IT solutions have helped Sheela Form in its organic as well as inorganic growth


Having received many national and international accolades for IT innovations, Pertisth Mankotia has well established himself as a trailblazer and a neoteric with a successful record of leveraging technology to transform and rationalise business processes.

Mankotia, who started his career at the age of 22 with Sheela Group (Sleepwell), firmly believes that every issue or problem in an organisation is an opportunity for CIOs to find solutions. His mantra for success is to be humble and unpresuming. “I have always believed firmly in the statement: ‘Whenever I do a good job, I open the window and see, to whom I can pass the credit; and whenever I go wrong, I go back, look into the mirror and see where I went wrong,” says the man who has 22 years of extensive experience in developing and executing IT strategies.

At Sheela Foam — best known for its Sleepwell brand of mattresses — Mankotia has worked in various capacities and has been responsible for bringing speed and innovations to the business through his digitalisation initiatives. He is credited for developing and implementing Sheela Foam’s homegrown enterprise resource planning (ERP) software named ‘Greatplus’. “IT is considered as a business enabler and a growth driver. We work towards solving business problems and find opportunities where digitalisation can add value rather than just implementing technologies,” says Mankotia.

The key decisions taken by him at the company have put Sheela Group in good stead today. “We have expanded horizontally and reached out with Greatplus to our channel partners. Today, Greatplus has become a platform for us to excel. We have gradually connected ourselves with the dealers and now to the consumers. The consumer order is tracked right from its order placement to the factory up to its final delivery to the consumer. We also have access to secondary sales, tertiary sales, BTL initiates, customer footfalls, etc. We can now run direct and real-time consumer offers, etc.,” says a proud Mankotia.

His actions have helped the company CEO to drive growth strategies from mergers and acquisitions to geographic expansion and organic growth. Emphasising on this, he says, “IT at Sheela Foam works seamlessly. We have developed systems that not only support organic growth but also enable geographic expansion, merger and acquisitions. After acquisition of Joyce Foam, Australia, we implemented our homegrown ERP (Greatplus), which not only connects but integrates businesses. All our units across India, five units in Australia, 120-plus distributors and 5,000-plus dealers across India today enjoy the benefit of same IT infrastructure and IT solutions. They work on the same platform and thus we are able to integrate and expand geographically.”

Talking about facing challenges in the organisation and the industry, Mankotia avows, “Although IT implementations are full of challenges, in our organisation the focus is top driven. The IT solutions are implemented to build harmony, improve efficiencies, create a competitive edge, etc. Moreover, I believe that challenges are nothing but a mind-set issue, which needs to be handled differently.”
