This is the second week in a row that The Boss Baby has passed other releases and most importantly, Beauty and the Beast.
The animated feature, Boss Baby, added $37.5 million in the second weekend, which is a 48% drop. However looking at the poor reviews the movie received, the numbers are surprising in the second week. The film now stands at a global total of $200 million. The Beauty and the Beast is still holding strong in international arena and is closing in on $ 1 billion worldwide mark. The movie has a worldwide total of $975 million. The film is yet to release in Japan, which is undoubtedly an important market for Disney.
The weekend also saw some new releases like, Smurfs: The Lost Village, adding $14 million and Going in Style adding $12.5 million.
Moviegoers are relentlessly waiting for the next weekend's release, The Fate of the Furious. The movie is subjected to be the widest April release topping the Jungle Book which was released in April last year and had the biggest April release. The opening weekend collection would be very crucial for the movie considering its wide release and an amazing fan base across the world. The movie will see a wide I-max release across the world.
Fast 7 opened with $147 million, the interesting factor with the Fast 7 was the sentimental aspect surrounding the untimely passing of franchise star Paul Walker. It will be interesting to see how Fast 8 performs as the audiences very well believed that Fast 7 will be the last movie of the franchise.
