Influencer Marketing is a great strategy for brands to leverage and increase engagement.
We spoke to Rajat Sharma about the Influencer Marketing Space, trends of influencer marketing and what fuels revenue for them.
Edited Excerpts below:
How does an Influencer ensure that they keep their content relevant to their audience?
I believe it is all about observing. I would not call myself a comedian, but an observer of people. My comedy is more observational. Constantly observing people how they react to certain situations is where I derive my content from, which makes it relatable. Whenever you observe people there's always something fresh and relatable.
Trends that shape the influencer marketer space?
I would like to call myself an entrepreneur and not an influencer. I feel like it's a Catch 22 because there was a time when it was just about Subscribing and now there is the bell button on YouTube. Initially, there were just Instagram stories and now there is a swipe up option after you get 10k followers. Trends are constantly changing and all you have to do is try not to and understand how this will shape Influencer Market but cater to what is required as a content creator. If you feel something that is required that can help you build your audience or build your career as a content creator you should do that. The influencer space is phenomenal and it will become bigger and better.
What fuels revenue for influencers, brand endorsements, is it a long term strategy?
Majorly it is the YouTube revenue and endorsements done through Instagram. Along with that, there is brand integration and cross-promotion which is not necessarily monetary gains. You get invited to a good destination or event so you can make a vlog there.
Influencers that inspire you?
Lilly Singh, who has worked so hard and made a career from making videos in her room to now where she has a talk show. Secondly, Cassey Neistat, I like his storytelling. Once you start watching his videos there is no stopping him. Lastly, Mostly Sane (Prajakta Koli), whenever I see her on Instagram or on her videos she is hustling so hard but still keeping that smile. Plus she is grounded, she has good values and ethos too which inspire me.
