Garuda Indonesia is targeting the seat load factor of 80 per cent on its new Jakarta- Mumbai via Bangkok and will look at launching a direct India flight later.
"The market landscape of India, especially Mumbai being particularly promising potential, we are optimistic to meet the level of seat load factor above 80 percent in the first week of operation," CEO and President Garuda Indonesia M. Arif Wibowo told a group of travel agents in Mumbai.
The airline will look at starting a direct flight either through its hub in Jakarta or from Bali's Denpasar "to other promising destinations in India," Arif added.
Vincencius Jumadu, a Ministry of Tourism official, said the Jakarta–Mumbai flight can countribute to increasing the number of Indian tourists to one million.
The number of Indians visiting Indonesia was 262,000 in 2015, according to Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism.
