Indian Banks To Remain Closed For 21 Days In October, Amid Festivities

As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulations, Indian banks have to be closed on all public holidays, however, there are going to be few regional holidays, limited to particular states only.

As the entire country braces for festival season, Private and Public banks are going to be close for several days in addition to second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays in the month of October. 

As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulations, Indian banks have to be closed on all public holidays, however, there are going to be few regional holidays, limited to particular states only. 

Here are the bank holidays in the month of October 2021:

1. October 1: Half Yearly Closing of Bank Accounts (Gangtok- Sikkim)

2. October 2: Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (Pan India)

3. October 3: Sunday 

4. October 6: Mahalaya Amavasye (Agartala- Tripura, Bengaluru- Karnataka, Kolkata- West Bengal)

5. October 7: Mera Chaoren Houba of Lainingthou Sanamahi (Imphal- Manipur)

6. October 9:  Second Saturday of Month

7. October 10: Sunday

8. October 12: Durga Puja (Maha Saptami), (Agartala- Tripura, Kolkata- West Bengal)

9. October 13: Durga Puja (Maha Ashtami), (Agartala- Tripura, Bhubaneswar- Odisha, Gangtok- Sikkim, Guwahati- Assam, Imphal- Manipur, Kolkata- West Bengal, Patna- Bihar, Ranchi- Jharkhand)

10. October 14: Maha Navami, Dussehra, Durga Puja, Ayutha Pooja (Agartala- Tripura, Bengaluru- Karnataka, Chennai- Tamil Nadu, Gangtok- Sikkim, Guwahati- Assam, Kanpur, Lucknow,- Uttar Pradesh, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi- Kerala, Kolkata- West Bengal, Patna- Bihar, Ranchi- Jharkhand, Shillong- Meghalaya, Srinagar- Jammu, and Kashmir)

11. October 15: Durga Puja, Dusshera (Vijaya Dashmi) holiday is for all banks, but not for the banks situated in Imphal- Manipur, and Shimla- Himachal Pradesh.

12. October 16: Durga Puja, Dasain, (Gangtok- Sikkim)

13. October 17: Sunday

14. October 18: Kati Bihu (Guwahati- Assam)

15. October 19: Id-E-Milad (Ahmedabad- Gujarat, Bhopal, Lucknow- Uttar Pradesh, Thiruvananthapuram- Kerala, Chennai- Tamil Nadu, Dehradun- Uttarakhand, Hyderabad- Telangana, Kanpur, Kochi- Kerala, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi- Jharkhand, Jammu, Srinagar- Jammu, and Kashmir, Imphal- Manipur)

16. October 20: Maharishi Valmiki’s Birthday/Lakshmi Puja/Id-E-Milad (Agartala, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Shimla)

17. October 22: Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi (Srinagar and Jammu)

18. October 23: Fourth Saturday of the Month

19. October 24: Sunday

20. October 26: Accession Day (Srinagar and Jammu)

21. October 31: Sunday
