India Speed Week 2016: Kolkata Creates Drag Racing History
The India Speed Week 2016, which collaborated with Elite Octane Inc and was approved by The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India
It was a moment that will be etched in history in the years to come as India's City of Joy witnessed a full throttle of speeding cars and bikes at the Behala Flying Club air strip with more than 7,000 people pouring in to witness it.
The India Speed Week 2016 spread over three days was a splendid speed fest, followed by the final showdown on 11 December 2016. The fest throughout unveiled a number of thrilling experiences including drag racing, auto-car expo, test drives, adventure sports, glamour and entertainment concoct amongst others, all under one roof.
The India Speed Week 2016, which collaborated with Elite Octane Inc and was approved by The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India, took the glamour quotient several notches higher by roping in the bollywood's evergreen celebrity Anil Kapoor thereby making the Awards Night the crowning moment of the speed-fest.
While felicitating the stars of the drag race he said, "India Speed Week 2016 has given talent racers a platform to display their passion and urge to drag, in a much safer and secured environment, Kudos to India Speed Week'2016."
The event also witnessed Tollywoods' own Nusrat Jahan who enthralled the event and interacted with the participants.
Keeping the entertainment quotient intact, the organizers had the crowd and participants grooving to bands like FOSSILS and UNDERGROUND AUTHORITY! The band performances brought forth rock, pop, indie rock, fusion music and much more to ring in the desired fun to the competition, while, the finale promises more and the best.
Amit Kumar Modi, Chairman of ISW, said, "On India Speed Week and the auto industry - I have been an auto industry entrepreneur and have my dealerships. I have seen the excitability good cars and bikes and how people are involved. They needed a platform and we have provided it. It is working out thus far. I am very happy with what we have done so far, day three promises the best out of the best."

As a former Drag Racing participant and a part of the industry for over 16 years, the sheer scope and popularity of this sport has increased since the first year of its inception," said racer specialist and a speed enthusiast, Rongom Tagore Mukerji, director of Elite Octane Inc & FMSCI Drag Racing Committee Member.
"This is indeed one of those very few sports where-in one could participate in a safe and controlled environment without the fear of endangering their lives. We envision to continue our journey to take it to the next level with ISW 2016. The ISW also featured an envious collection of class in the form of the ISW'2016 Autocar Expo. The event had reached the notch of uniqueness wherein it witnessed not only drag racing event but catered to fulfill an annual social event. A dedicated Auto Expo featuring stalls zone displaying Indian labels as well as premium international, proved to be the cynosure of all eyes at the speed-fest. The full-fledged auto-car and bike arena occupied by high-end automobiles included Mahindra, Suzuki, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, Maserati, Mini Cooper, Indian, Polaris, Skoda, Chevrolet, Mercedes, Honda, Triumph, Kawasaki, KTM, Hexa, Jaguar, Vintage Cars.
Manmeet Singh Chawla, business head at Petal Maserati, Delhi, expressed his excitement of being a part of ISW 2016.
