IndiGo To Start Operating Between Delhi And Jabalpur From Today

This comes amidst the increasing losses being reported by IndiGo

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia launched an IndiGo flight from Jabalpur to Delhi today. With this, IndiGo is now connected to 69 cities in India. Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan also attended the function, virtually.

Jabalpur is one of the most significant cities of Madhya Pradesh, the city has the potential of many opportunities for various sectors”, said Scindia during his address. The city is expected to get better connectivity from Hyderabad and Indore by the end of August. The flight will take off from Jabalpur at 10:50 AM, daily. 

This comes amidst the increasing losses being reported by IndiGo. The quarterly losses increased to Rs 3,174.2 crore for the first quarter from Rs 2,844.3 in the year-ago period. The income from operations fell to 3,006.91 in June 2021 from 6,222.95 in the quarter ending March 2021. The shares of the company fell 1.4% on Friday. 

421-crore scheme

Scindia further said, “We have also approved a 421-crore scheme for the development of Jabalpur airport. The new developments include construction of a new 10,000 square feet terminal building, a new ATC tower, and extension of runway from 1,950 metres to 2,750 metres to make it feasible for bigger aircraft operations”. 

The investment is expected to boost the tourism of the city which boasts of its proximity to the destinations like Dhuandhar Falls, Chausta -Yogini and Kanha National Park.
